SHERBURN: A Mass of Christian Burial for Donald F. Hoffmeister, 84, of Sherburn,  Minnesota, will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 3, 2026 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church
in Sherburn, (303 South Lake St.,) Sherburn, Minnesota with burial in St. Luke’s Catholic Cemetery with military honors by: Thomas P. Saxton American Legion Post #553 and the Sherburn Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #8261 both of Sherburn.
   Don was called to his eternal rest on Monday afternoon, December 22, 2025 at Temperance Lake Ridge in Sherburn, Minnesota. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2026 at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday.
   The Kramer Funeral Home of Sherburn, Trimont and Welcome, Minnesota is in charge of Don’s arrangements.

Donald Frank Hoffmeister was born on June 21, 1941 to Chauncey and Martha (Leibfried) Hoffmeister on the farm in Jay Township, rural Sherburn, Minnesota. He attended rural Jay Township school and later attended school in Sherburn graduating with the class of 1959. Don then attended Jackson Vocational School. He then farmed with his family in rural Sherburn. Don served in the Army National Guard from 1962 until 1965. On August 5, 1967 he was united in marriage to Judith Erdal at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Sherburn, Minnesota. After their marriage they farmed and raised their family on the farm in Jay Township. In December of 2010 they moved into
Sherburn. Don was a member of St. Luke’s Catholic Church, member of it’s Knights of Columbus, was a 4 th Degree Knight; member of the Sherburn Lions, the American
Legion and served on it’s honor guard, was Jay Township Clerk and was a member of Fox Lake Golf Club. He enjoyed golfing, playing shuffle board, enjoyed all Minnesota Sports teams, especially the Gophers. Playing cards and wintering for 27 years in Texas, traveling, shaking dice with the Dunnell Coffee group was important to him. Don served on the Martin County Planning and Zoning Board and was the sexton of St. Luke’s Cemetery for many years.
   He is survived by his wife, Judith Hoffmeister of Sherburn, Minnesota; daughters, Jackie (Daryl) Tlam of rural Dunnell, Minnesota, Nicolle (Danny) Eytcheson of Kailua Kona, Hawaii, Jenny (Steve) Tusa of rural Alpha, Minnesota; grandchildren, Kaylin Tlam, husband, James Rojas, Gavin (Kelli) Tlam, Erin Tlam and special friend, Henry Thurber, Bridget Finley, Brendon Finley, Brynn Finley, Christophan Eytcheson, Kaiden Eytcheson, Andrew Tusa and Rachel Tusa; son-in-law, David Finley of Estherville, Iowa; nephews, Christian (Rosanne) Erdal of Woodridge, Illinois and Erik (Lynn) Erdal of Chicago, Illinois; great-nephews, Andrew Erdal and Joshua Erdal and other relatives
and friends.
   Don was preceded in death by his parents, Chauncy and Martha Hoffmeister; daughter, Angela Finley; infant brother and sister; father and mother-in-law, Carl and Pearl Erdal; brother and sister-in-law, David and Cynthia Erdal and other relatives.
